Saxon Weald has finalised plans for their Winterton Court site on New Street, having received planning approval for two different schemes. The chosen development is for 65 new homes, as approved by Horsham District Council on 7 March 2017.
The development consists of 27 one-bedroom properties and 38 two-bedroom properties. The planning consent allows for 20 of the properties to be for affordable rent, while 42 homes are for market housing and three will be for shared ownership. The proposed name for the development is Innes Square.
Mark Crosby, Business Development Director, said: "Our decision has been guided by the views of neighbours and local councillors, and we have chosen the scheme preferred by them. We believe it is a well thought-out design which makes the most of this sustainable site, while being sensitive to the surrounding area."
Demolition at the site started on 21 April and is expected to take between 8 - 10 weeks. Up to 95% of the materials from the old development will be recycled. Construction on the new homes will start soon after the demolition, and completion is expected in Spring 2019.
As a housing association, Saxon Weald is a not-for-profit organisation. Due to a lack of government grant, we are generally only able to build affordable rented homes when they are subsidised by income from other tenures, in this case, market housing.
