Extra care

Extra care housing is ideal for older people who want to live independently in a home of their own but may require help and support with day-to-day living.

Extra care

Our extra care developments consist of thoughtfully-designed one and two bedroom apartments. The facilities available in our extra care schemes include a restaurant, communal lounge, landscaped gardens, hairdressers / therapy suite, guest room, laundry room and mobility scooter charging and storage areas. Our onsite Extra Care Service Managers are available to deal with housing and building related issues.

Care and support

The local Adult Social Care department commission a professional care team to work onsite 24/7 at our extra care schemes. The care team provide agreed care packages to residents that need support and will assist all customers in the event of an emergency.

Please note, there are upper limits to the amount of care and support that can be provided in extra care, very occasionally alternative accommodation may have to be arranged for a resident if their needs become too high. This decision would be made by health and social care professionals in conjunction with the family or an advocate acting for the resident.

Buy or rent
Extra care apartments are available both to rent and to buy. To see properties available to buy, please see our Weald Living sales website.

The application process for renting a property varies depending on the local authority area the scheme is located in. In the first instance, your local authority’s Adult Social Care team needs to have identified that you have a suitable care need. Once they have determined your care and support needs, they will put forward a nomination to us. Allocations are made jointly by the Adult Social Care team in conjunction with Saxon Weald. Please contact your local Adult Social Care team for more information.
