Last cost of living payment due – check if you qualify

Date: 6 February 2024

Many low-income households will receive the third and final part of their £900 cost of living payment this month to help with high food and energy bills.

Who is entitled to the cost of living payment?

To qualify, you need to have been paid (or have been eligible for a payment of) one of the benefits listed below for any day between 13 November 2023 and 12 December 2023:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Pension Credit

If you’re eligible, you do not need to apply to receive the payments. The last £299 payment will be paid automatically into your bank account between 6 February and 22 February.

The additional cost of living payments are not taxable and will not affect benefits or tax credits.

If you're on a low income and not currently getting any benefits, it’s worth checking whether you’re eligible for support. Use one of the many online benefits calculators to work out your possible entitlements: www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
