Stormy weather - be prepared...

With some unsettled weather continuing into the start of this weekend, here are a few things you can do to be prepared, especially in the event of a power cut:

  • Charge your mobile phone, tablet and any other essential devices
  • Keep a torch handy and make sure you know where it is
  • If you rely on electrically powered medical equipment, make sure you have a plan in place if there is a power cut
  • Keep your fridge and freezer doors closed as much as possible during any outage
  • Secure any loose items in your garden, balcony or outdoor space that could easily blow away
  • Take extra care when travelling and avoid unnecessary journeys during severe weather
  • Remember to check in on neighbours who may need extra support

If you experience a power cut, stay calm. Most outages are resolved as quickly as possible by your local electricity network operator. You can report a power cut and get updates at www.Distribution Network Operator | UK Power Networks or call 105 free of charge.

If you spot any damage to your home that could put you or others at risk, please report it to us. If it's an emergency, please call 01403 226000 and you will be transferred to our out of hours service. Non urgent repairs can be emailed to [email protected].
