Saxon Weald has signed up to the National Housing Federation's ‘Commitment to Refer’ initiative to help take action against homelessness.
Here at Saxon Weald, we’re one of a number of housing associations making a commitment to tackle homelessness as we pledge our support to the ‘Commitment to Refer’.
What is 'Commitment to Refer'?
As part of the Homelessness Reduction Act, public bodies have been bound by the Duty to Refer. This is an obligation to refer anyone to a local authority if they are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
Housing associations are not part of this, but with so many passionate about tackling the issue of homelessness, many have signed up to support the implementation of the Act. This has seen the development of a housing association specific offer on the Duty to Refer, commonly known as the ‘Commitment to Refer’.
We believe that by encouraging others to support the Commitment to Refer, we can make a positive contribution towards tackling homelessness across the UK.
Saxon Weald's Chief Executive, Steven Dennis, said "Saxon Weald are proud to be part of the Commitment to Refer initiative, which aims to tackle homelessness across the UK, and provide support to individuals and families that are affected".
