On Sunday 2 February, Homefix celebrated 10 years of service. Launched in February 2009, Homefix provides a variety of different services to our residents including, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and external works. In February 2018, Homefix also introduced its new internal gas service, which has proved hugely successful.
Initially, Homefix consisted of 20 members of staff, including operatives. Now, Homefix consists of nearly 100 members of staff, over 70 of which are operatives! Over the past 10 years, Homefix has continued to grow and naturally, members of the team have moved on to new challenges and opportunities.
However, two members of the original Homefix team are still standing today, and they're both called John! We asked both Johns to tell us a bit about what has changed, what makes our Homefix team stand out, and what's kept them here over the last 10 years.
'I think the biggest change has been the size of Homefix - the successful venture into the repairs service has lead to us bringing in more operatives to reduce the reliance on contractors and has seen levels of service improve. Some of our longer serving operatives have become familiar faces to a lot of residents which I think they find comforting, especially the older tenants.
Saxon Weald’s recruitment process has helped us employ the right people which has helped us develop a team with a good work ethic and has lead to a comfortable working environment. I have always felt valued by Saxon Weald and they have given me the opportunity to develop myself and progress my career.'
'Homefix has become a professional, well run arm of the company. Well trained staff has resulted in more qualified team members and management.
I enjoy my varied duties in my field of expertise, and love the interaction with our customers on a day to day basis. I am never too old to learn new skill sets that are needed, as things change within our field. I have worked for this company for 10 years because I enjoy my role, work with good colleagues and superiors, who I get on with and respect.'
