Emergency Alert Test – Sunday 7 September 2025

Date: 26 August 2025

At around 3pm on Sunday 7 September, mobile phones across the UK will receive a test Emergency Alert as part of the Government’s efforts to improve national emergency preparedness.

If you have a hidden phone for safety reasons, such as in cases of domestic abuse, please take precautions. You can find out how to opt out of government alerts here: www.gov.uk/alerts/opting-out

The Emergency Alerts system is designed to warn people if there’s a danger to life nearby, such as severe weather or other emergencies.

During the alert test, phones will:

  • Vibrate
  • Emit a loud siren-like sound (even if on silent)
  • Display a message confirming it’s only a test
