Saxon Weald is submitting a planning application to provide six new houses for shared ownership in Rudgwick.
The application follows the upcoming demolition of six bungalows in Pathfield Close which are suffering from severe subsidence. At close to £400,000, the cost to repair the bungalows was not viable, so this alternative has been proposed. Former residents of the bungalows have already been successfully re-housed.
Stephen Humphreys, Saxon Weald’s Head of Development, said: “There are very few shared ownership properties in Rudgwick, so this is a fantastic opportunity to provide something which will help local first-time buyers get a foot on the property ladder.”
A public consultation about the proposed development is taking place on Tuesday 16 October at Rudgwick Village Hall from 3pm – 7pm and the planning application will then be submitted in November. If the application is successful, building work will start in late summer 2019.
