Green tree-tment

Date: 16 November 2021

At the end of October, Steyning for Trees (SFT), with support from Saxon Weald and some local residents, got to work planting trees and shrubs on the green at Shooting Field in Steyning.

SFT are a community group, which was formed to help fight climate change by promoting the planting of more trees. The group planted five semi-mature trees and over 15, 60cm whips of small trees and shrubs at Shooting Field.

West Sussex County Council, who work in partnership with SFT, also planted four trees on the verges at Shooting Field, with the help of some eager residents. The new trees and shrubs will help create wildlife corridors through Steyning, and work towards reversing the 50% drop in species over recent years. It will also hopefully aid in the regeneration of some wildflowers.
