Grounds maintenance

The external areas of our blocks and schemes are managed by our grounds maintenance contractor, Idverde. They are responsible for the upkeep of our sites, which includes surveying and working on communal trees.

But what can you expect from Idverde throughout the year?

Spring and summer

During the growing period, which typically runs from April to June, you can expect:

  • The grass is to be cut on a fortnightly basis
  • Shrubs and borders to be attended to monthly

From July through to October, the frequency of grass cutting may be adjusted according to the weather and rate of growth. However, visits should be frequent enough to ensure the grass length doesn’t become excessive.

Autumn and winter

During the autumn/winter period, from October through to March, grass cutting stops while Idverde focus on winter pruning. This involves heavily reducing the shrubs and bushes ready for the growing season, tidying borders, trimming hedges, and mulching flower beds.

Site visits will happen monthly during this time, with heavy pruning taking place approximately twice annually, depending on the plants in your area.

Trees

All communal trees on Saxon Weald land were surveyed in 2020 to identify whether they are dead, diseased, or dangerous. Any trees within these categories were dealt with in 2021.

If you notice any trees you believe to be dead, diseased, or dangerous, please report them to us and we will arrange for a survey to be carried out with a qualified arborist.

Trees in private gardens are the resident’s responsibility to maintain. If, however, you have a tree in your garden that is thought to be dead, diseased, or dangerous, and you are unable to carry out or arrange any necessary work yourself, please report it to us and we will arrange a survey and any suggested work if necessary.
